WHO’S BEHIND ESPAÑOL CON PATACÓN

Hi! I’m Allison, the founder of Español con Patacón and a Spanish teacher for foreigners.
Through this space, I’d love to share my love for language, communication, and a mindful way of learning Spanish one that feels warm, human, and approachable from day one.

How this journey began

I’m from Guayaquil, Ecuador, and I’ve been teaching Spanish since 2020. What began during the pandemic as a moment of uncertainty became a turning point in my life. Losing my job pushed me to try something new and, without planning it, led me back to a passion that had always been part of me. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a single step of that process.

Although I studied a completely different degree at university, every experience I lived slowly guided me here. Teaching Spanish never felt like a plan B it felt like coming home, like returning to something that was truly natural and authentic for me.

My professional path

Over time, I decided to train professionally as a Spanish teacher. I am certified by the Instituto Cervantes in ELE teaching and hold a Master’s degree in Language Teaching. My goal has always been to offer classes that are thoughtful, human, and effective, without ever losing the closeness that defines my way of teaching.

I’ve had the privilege of working with students from all continents. Thanks to this beautiful job, I’ve not only learned about different cultures, accents, and stories, but I’ve also had the chance to meet several of my students in person. Seeing a connection that began on a screen turn into a real life encounter is still one of the most meaningful parts of this journey.

My way of teaching

My Ecuadorian culture naturally flows into every class through conversations, examples, expressions, and the way we relate to each other. It’s also reflected in the name Español con Patacón: a patacón is one of my favorite traditional Ecuadorian foods, and choosing that name is a simple way of honoring where I come from. I can’t separate myself from my roots, because they are part of who I am and what I naturally bring into my classes.

I truly believe in creating a space where students feel safe, heard, and confident, and where learning Spanish feels close, enjoyable, and pressure free. My teaching approach is inspired by the method that helped me learn English and continues to evolve through experience and through every student I’ve worked with, always respecting each person’s rhythm, personality, and goals.

An invitation to learn together

Español con Patacón was born as my dream project and as a safe space for learning. If this approach resonates with you, I invite you to get to know me and trust me to guide you in your Spanish practice. I’d be happy to walk alongside you on this journey with patience, closeness, and respect for your own pace.
